Kasey Kahne started racing mini-sprints in Washington state, creating a buzz around the young driver. He has a USAC Midget championship under his belt, as well as rookie of the year honors in the USAC Silver Crown Series.
Kahne entered the world of NASCAR with 20 Busch Series starts in 2002. The next year in the Busch Series, he finished seventh in points.
2004, however, was a charmed year for Kahne. He finished off his rookie year in the Cup Series 13th in points, had 14 top-10s in 30 Busch races, and won 2 Craftsman Truck Series races in as many starts.
Another great run in 2006 saw Kahne win six races and finish eighth in points.
