Finishing outside the top ten in the series standings only once including his rookie year, Tony Stewart has proven himself a true champion. Stewart also has two NASCAR Cup championships on his racing resume, and was the first rookie to ever win three races in a season, a season that was, of course, his Rookie of the Year run.
Tony Stewart holds ten racing championships in total, including his two in NASCAR. His 29 wins are second only to Jeff Gordon since 1999. Stewart’s other championships include an IRL trophy, four USAC titles, and three go-kart championships, which he won at the ages of 12 and 16.
Stewart was the first driver ever to win the triple crown, doing so in 1995 by winning the National Midget, Sprint, and Silver Crown titles. 1999 was the year that Stewart joined the NASCAR Busch Series and the Cup Series at the same time.
Eldora Speedway has always been dear to Tony Stewart, and he recently bought the track, saying that seeing it from above is “like a scene from Field of Dreams.”
